Troops Arrest Suspected ISWAP Logistics Supplier, Recover Vehicle, Fuel in Borno

Troops of Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK) have arrested a suspected logistics supplier linked to Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) terrorists during a coordinated operation in Ngamdu, Kaga Local Government Area of Borno State.

Security sources disclosed that the suspect, identified as 30-year-old Alhaji Goni Ashami of Zaramari village in Kaga LGA, was apprehended on June 21 at Ngamdu market.

The arrest was carried out by troops of the 154 Task Force Battalion in collaboration with the Ngamdu Forest Guards and members of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF), following intelligence on the suspect’s alleged support activities for terrorist elements operating in the North-East.

Items recovered from the suspect include a pickup vehicle, 75 litres of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), a Tecno mobile phone, a knife, and ₦24,750 in cash.

Preliminary assessment by security sources indicates that the suspect may have been involved in supplying logistics and essential materials to insurgent groups operating within the theatre.

He is currently in military custody and is expected to be transferred to the Sector 2 Military Intelligence Brigade for further interrogation and investigation.

Military authorities stated that the operation is part of sustained efforts to disrupt terrorist logistics chains, dismantle support networks, and weaken the operational capacity of insurgent groups across Borno State and the wider North-East region.

They added that the overall security situation in the theatre remains calm but unpredictable, with troops maintaining high operational tempo, vigilance, and morale.
