Troops Raid Illegal Mining Site in Plateau, Recover Equipment
Troops of Operation Enduring Peace (OPEP) have raided an illegal mining site at Laminga village in Jos East Local Government Area of Plateau State, recovering equipment as part of ongoing operations against illegal mining activities in the area.
Security sources said the operation was carried out at about 1:10 p.m. on May 11, following credible intelligence on the activities of suspected illegal miners operating within the location.

According to the sources, troops of Sector 1 OPEP were swiftly mobilised and conducted an anti-illegal mining operation at the site.
On arrival, the suspected miners reportedly fled in different directions on sighting the advancing troops, abandoning equipment used for their activities.
Items recovered from the site included two rolling buckets used for illegal mining operations.
Military authorities said the raid was part of sustained efforts to dismantle illegal mining camps and deny criminal elements freedom of action within the Joint Operations Area.
They added that troops would continue aggressive patrols and targeted operations across vulnerable communities in Plateau State to curb illegal mining-related crimes and enhance overall security.
