Troops Eliminate 2 Top Bandits Commanders in Katsina, Hunt Wounded Leader
Troops of Sector 2, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have killed two high-profile terrorist kingpins during an intelligence-led operation in Matazu Local Government Area of Katsina State.
The operation was conducted in the early hours of Monday, August 31, following credible intelligence on the location of a hideout used by key members of a terrorist syndicate operating in the area.
Security sources told Zagazola Makama that the troops engaged the terrorists with superior firepower after making contact with the enclave, resulting in the death of two prominent members of the group.

The two terrorists were identified as Hamisu, alias Mamiyo, a suspected prominent gunrunner and second-in-command to notorious terrorist commander Kachalla Muhammadu Filani, and Umar Bocho, a high-ranking lieutenant in the syndicate.
Sources said Kachalla Muhammadu Filani narrowly escaped the encounter but sustained severe gunshot wounds.
During the operation, troops also captured and destroyed two motorcycles belonging to the terrorists.
Following the encounter, security agencies intensified efforts to track down the wounded commander and other fleeing members of the group.
Residents and medical personnel in Matazu and neighbouring communities have been urged to remain vigilant and promptly report anyone seeking treatment for suspicious gunshot wounds to the nearest security agency.
Troops are continuing clearance and mop-up operations in the area as part of efforts to eliminate the remaining terrorist elements and prevent them from regrouping.
