9 Killed as Vigilantes Clash in Kogi’s Yagba East
At least nine people have been killed following a clash between a Kogi State vigilante group and a Fulani vigilante group in Yagba East Local Government Area of Kogi State.
The incident occurred at about 11 a.m. on August 6, when troops of the Nigerian Army’s 12 Brigade, deployed at a patrol base in Aiyetoro Kiri, responded to reports of a confrontation between the two groups.
According to a military source, preliminary investigations indicated that the clash followed an argument that escalated and resulted in the death of a son of the leader of the Fulani vigilante group.

The reported killing subsequently triggered a reprisal attack, during which nine residents of Abugi community were killed, while several others sustained injuries.
The injured victims were evacuated to Bida General Hospital for medical attention.
Following the incident, security personnel were deployed to the affected area to prevent further violence, restore calm and protect residents.
Authorities have commenced investigations to establish the circumstances surrounding the confrontation and identify those responsible for the killings, while efforts are ongoing to prevent further escalation.
