Heavily armed men, suspected to be herdsmen, on Sunday night, abducted a female lecturer of the Faculty of Administration at the Nasarawa State University, Keffi, Dr Comfort Adokwe.

The gunmen were said to have stormed her residence at Angwan Jaba in the Keffi Local Government Area of the state and whisked her away to an unknown destination while shooting sporadically into the air.

The incident is happening barely two weeks after the kidnap of the Deputy Vice Chancellor and four other students of the university.

Speaking on the incident on Tuesday, a resident of Keffi LGA, Musa Adamu, while lamenting the incessant kidnappings and bandit attacks in the state, urged the Federal Government to intensify more efforts towards ensuring the security of lives and property.

“The incessant abductions of innocent citizens has become a lucrative job for some bad set of people. The federal and state governments should urgently intervene in the matter to boost the confidence of residents of the state,” he said.

As of the time of filing this report, efforts made to get the reaction of the Nasarawa State Police command through its Public Relations Officer, Ramhan Nansel, proved abortive as he did not respond to calls put across to his mobile lines.
