Cleaner arrested for stealing laptop
The Lagos State Police Commander and on Monday arraigned a cleaner at the Yaba College of Technology, Kemi Salawu, for allegedly stealing an HP laptop valued at N633,700.
The 54-year-old woman was arraigned before the Yaba Magistrates’ Court presided over by Magistrate O.Y. Adefope on one count of theft.
The laptop, belonging to one of her bosses, Femi Faduru, was said to have been declared missing after she cleaned his office and left.

The prosecutor, Chekwube Okey, holding a brief for Haruna Magaji, told the court that the complainant gave the defendant the key to his office and asked her to clean the office and return the key, but she allegedly stole the laptop after cleaning the offices.
According to Okey, the defendant committed the offence on April 26, 2023, at the YABATECH premises.
The charge read in part, “That you, Kemi Salawu, on April 26, 2023, around 8am at YABATECH premises in the Lagos Magisterial District did steal one HP laptop valued at N633, 700, property of one Femi Faduru, and thereby committed an offence contrary to Section 280(1) and.
punishable under Section 287 (1) of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, Nigeria, 2015.”
The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the offenses.
The magistrate granted the defendant bail in the sum of N500, 000.
He adjourned the case till June 14,
