Four injured in Ogun motorcycles crash
Residents of Mubarak Street, Alagbole Akute Road, in the Ifo Local Government Area of Ogun State, were thrown into confusion early hours of Monday when two commercial motorcycles suffered a head-on collision, leaving four people including the two riders and passengers injured.
PUNCH Metro gathered that a motorcycle rider, who was en route to Alagbole from Akute while trying to avoid a pothole at the bus stop, swerved the motorcycle to the other side of the road unaware that another rider conveying two passengers was approaching. They ended up colliding.
While navigating through the spot to avoid crushing students and other commuters who were waiting for commercial buses at a nearby bus shed, the other rider conveying two passengers rammed into an open channel, leaving the three people on the bike with broken legs and ankles.
Our correspondent who was at the scene of the accident reported that commercial motorists and fellow motorcyclists passing by had to park and carry the rider and the bike out of the road to a nearby shed where they rendered him first aid.

Meanwhile, at the other end of the road, both the rider and the two passengers were seen groaning in pain inside the channel after sustaining broken legs and one with mild knee bruises just as some residents also gathered to help them out.
Speaking with PUNCH Metro, a resident simply identified as Wale, said the speeding of the motorcycles in the area was rather unbecoming, adding that residents were already planning on mounting a speed breaker to reduce the rates of crashes in the area, especially during rush hours.
He said, “Their speed is too much. We usually have pupils using this part of the road when going to school in the morning. The other rider almost hit the pupils on the side of the road.
“As concerned residents, we are already working on erecting two-speed breakers. This will reduce the unnecessary speed of the commercial motorcycles in this place.”
Meanwhile, three of the people with serious injuries were taken to a nearby hospital for medical attention.
The state Police Public Relations Officer, Oyeyemi Abimbola, could not be reached for comment on the incident as his mobile phone rang out as of the time this report was filed.
