Gunmen kill Policemen, four others in Bayelsa, Anambra
EMERGENCY DIGEST- A policeman and four others have been killed by gunmen who ambushed them in Bayelsa S
The slain persons were returning from the burial of Assistant Superintendent of Police Gilbert Samson in Rivers State.
The incident reportedly occurred on Saturday evening.
Some police officials and others sustained severe injuries.
Police spokesman for the Bayelsa Command, Asinim Butswat onfirmed the incident.
He said the attacked officers were serving at Idema-Otuabagi Road in Ogbia council of Bayelsa State.
Butswat said the gunmen opened fire on the vehicle conveying the police officers and others.
He said: “Police Constable Asuo Osuani, male, and Special Constabulary Odeoye Sampson, male, Mr Terry Lucky, Jennifer Adejo ‘f’ and Asueroh Tobins ‘f’ were shot and later died.

Butswat said the Commissioner of Police, Bayelsa State Command, Ben Nebolisa Okolo, had ordered a manhunt for the gunmen who perpetrated the dastardly act.
He said investigation was ongoing.
In Anambra, gunmen yesterday killed a policeman along Eke Oko market in Aguata council of Anambra State, where Governor Chukwuma Soludo hails from.
The unidentified policeman was riding a motorcycle when the gunmen stopped him and shot him, it was said.
Police spokesman Ikenga Tochukwu said the command was not aware of any missing policeman in the state, adding that the command could not identify the slain policeman.
Tochukwu added, though, that investigations were on.
An eyewitness, who spoke with The Nation, said residents scampered for safety when the gunmen fired many shots in the area
The incident came a few days after Soludo visited the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) Nnamdi Kanu in detention.
Aguata community has been under attack for some time now.
