Omo-Agege, who is the sponsor of the Bill, noted: “The creation of an act to establish NASSCOM is very critical at this juncture. This is necessary when looking at how the number of People of Concern (PoC) have been increasing across the country”.
In his contribution at the hearing, Minister of Labour and Employment, Dr. Chris Ngige, represented by a senior Director in the Ministry, however faulted the Bill.
He noted that the Commission should be domiciled under the Ministry of Labour, and not that of Justice Ministry.
The hearing was attended by several Civil Society Organizations, CSOs, Non-Governmental Organizations, NGOs, together with Ministries, Departments and Agencies, MDAs, of the Federal Government.
Notable among include: Civil Society Group for Good Governance, Northern Nigeria Good Governance Forum, Center for Peace Transparency and Accountability, UNICEF, National Initiative for Leadership and Economic Watch etc.
