NAF Alpha Jet Strikes

17 Killed as Military Air Strikes Hit Bandits’ Camp

The Air Component of Operation Hadarin Daji has neutralized no fewer than 17 armed bandits, in Katsina State.

Its force package of Nigerian Air Force (NAF) fighter jets and helicopter gunships, also destroyed the bandits’ camp at Dunya Forest in the State.

A statement by the Defence Headquarters (DHQ), on Friday, indicated that dozens of Ansaru terrorist group linked with armed bandits had established a camp at the location, which also housed scores of rustled cattle.

This was according to credible Human Intelligence (HUMINT) reports, and confirmatory surveillance missions.

The statement issued by Maj. Gen. John Enenche, Coordinator, Defence Media Operations (DMO), said the Air Component of the Nigerian military dispatched an appropriate force package of Nigerian Air Force (NAF) fighter jets and helicopter gunships, which engaged the location in successive passes, destroying portions of the camp.

“The storage facility of the bandits was seen engulfed in flames,” the statement noted, adding that HUMINT sources later confirmed that no fewer than 17 bandits were neutralized and several others injured.
