Kwara: ADC Guber Candidate Raises Alarm Over Impersonation, Fraudulent Requests for Verification Codes
The African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Kwara State has alerted its members, supporters and the general public to fraudulent calls and messages from individuals allegedly impersonating the party’s governorship candidate, Rt. Hon. Zakari Mohammed.
The warning was contained in a public notice issued by the MAI JAMA’A Media Team, signed by Comrade Olomada, which said reports had emerged of an individual or group of individuals contacting unsuspecting members of the public while posing as Zakari Mohammed or his representatives.
According to the notice, the impersonators are allegedly attempting to obtain verification codes and other sensitive personal information from their targets.
The media team urged members of the public to treat any call, WhatsApp message, text message or other communication purportedly from Zakari Mohammed, his representatives or the ADC that requests one-time passwords (OTPs), verification codes, personal identification numbers (PINs), passwords, bank details or login credentials as suspicious and potentially fraudulent.

It specifically advised members of the public not to disclose OTPs, verification codes, PINs, passwords, banking information or other confidential account details, and warned against clicking on unknown or suspicious links.
The team also urged recipients of unusual requests to independently verify them through known and trusted channels before taking any action.
“Rt. Hon. Zakari Mohammed and the MAI JAMA’A Media Team will not ask members of the public to disclose confidential verification codes, passwords, PINs, or other sensitive account information,” the notice stated.
It further advised ADC members, supporters, coordinators and group administrators who receive suspicious calls or messages to promptly notify their group administrators, appropriate ADC officials or relevant authorities.
The public was also encouraged to preserve evidence, including phone numbers, messages, screenshots and other available information, to assist potential investigations.
The MAI JAMA’A Media Team said the warning was issued as part of efforts to protect ADC members, supporters and the general public from impersonation, fraud, identity theft and other forms of cybercrime.
The team urged the public to remain vigilant and verify unusual requests before responding, stressing that personal security requires caution in dealing with unsolicited communications.
