ICPC Launches Phase 7 of Project Tracking, Monitors N610bn in 22 States

The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has initiated the 7th phase of its Constituency and Executive Project Tracking Exercise, focusing on monitoring the utilization of government funds for critical sectors like education, health, agriculture, and power.

Launched on November 18, 2024, the new phase will track 1,500 projects valued at a total of N610 billion across 22 states. These include Kwara, Niger, Kogi, Kano, Lagos, Rivers, Delta, Imo, and others from various geopolitical zones.

The tracking exercise covers government agencies and intervention bodies such as the North-East Development Commission (NEDC), Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC), and the Rural Electrification Agency (REA). The goal is to ensure adherence to due process in project execution, improve value for money, and ensure that contracts meet their specified requirements.

ICPC’s spokesperson, Demola Bakare, explained that previous phases have seen the tracking of N500 billion worth of projects, with particular focus on sectors like education, water resources, health, energy, and roads.

The Commission’s ongoing efforts aim to increase transparency and compliance in public projects, as it continues to monitor and ensure that funds allocated to public initiatives are properly utilized.
