Olusola highlighted that there had been a 63% reduction in fatalities and an 18% decrease in RTC cases compared to previous years. He further emphasized that passengers are more likely to be victims in road traffic accidents than drivers.
He urged commuters to actively discourage reckless driving by speaking out against dangerous behaviors on the road. Olusola also noted that the objectives of the 2024 World Day of Remembrance for RTC Victims include providing a platform for families to honor those killed or seriously injured, recognizing the role of emergency services, addressing lenient legal responses to road deaths, and advocating for greater accountability.
The FRSC reiterated its commitment to collaborating with stakeholders to raise public awareness and strictly enforce traffic laws to prevent further accidents.
