The Rivers State Police Command has gunned down a suspected Kidnapper identified as Gbarani Bume, a.k.a. Pelele, who is a native of Bere Community in Khana Local Government Area of Rivers State.
The suspect who was said to have been terrorizing the Beree and Tabaa axis of the Khana Local Government Area of the state, was rounded up and neutralized at Luawii Community where the suspect and his gang were attempting to kidnap a site Engineer.
Public Relations Officer for the Rivers State Police Command, SP Grace Iringe-Koko in a statement on Sunday said the suspect was killed during a fierce crossfire between the Police Operatives and the hoodlums following a tip-off.
Iringe-Koko further disclosed that in the wake of the gun battle, operatives of the command recovered one AK-47 rifle, two magazines, and 10 rounds of live ammunition, adding that other gang members managed to escape with various degrees of bullet injuries.
She said the investigation was ongoing, as concerted efforts have been intensified to apprehend the fleeing gang members and bring them to justice.

“Items recovered from the suspect include One (1) AK-47 Rifle, Two (2) Magazines, and Ten (10) Rounds of Live Ammunition.
“Investigation is ongoing, while concerted efforts are intensified to apprehend other fleeing gang members and bring them to justice. This operation demonstrates the Command’s commitment to tackling and ensuring public safety in Rivers State.”
