Speaking during a presentation to the Senate Committee on Anti-Corruption, Aliyu noted that the ICPC’s 21 state offices are critically under-resourced, impacting its nationwide operations. He pointed to issues such as slow court processes, inadequate funding, and external political pressures as major obstacles to effective investigations.
Aliyu also highlighted the need for better staff welfare, citing security risks faced by personnel during high-stakes cases and the rising cost of living affecting morale. He called for increased funding and resources to ensure the Commission can carry out its mandate effectively and foster public trust in the fight against corruption.
