Men of the Nigeria Police Force have apprehended a 46-year-old man, Murtala Abdullahi, for allegedly stealing Aviation Fuel from the airport.
Abdulahi was arrested in a Honda saloon car with registration number Lagos GGE 680 EL while conveying 50 jerry cans containing aviation fuel.
A statement signed by the Public Relations Officer, Airport Command, CSP Daramola Kazeem, explained that the police arrested the suspected Jet A1 thief while on routine patrol at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Airport’s landside at midnight last Wednesday.
Kazeem explained that the suspect confessed that the Jet-A1 was siphoned from an Aerotank Hanger at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport.

According to the statement, Abdulahi’s confession led to the arrest of others who conspired with him to carry out the act.
The suspects are; Abdulahi Jibril 26 years, Kabiru Hassan 25 years, and Habib.
Besides, the statement informed that the suspects offered the sum of N500,000 to the DPO and his team to evade prosecution but that it was rejected.
Speaking on the development, the Commissioner of Police in charge of Airport Command, CP Aminu Raji commended the DPO and his team for rejecting the bribe.
He said the rejection aligns with the ethos of the Nigeria Police as led by “the zero corruption tolerant Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun.
“The product whose street value is put at about N2m has been impounded while an investigation into the matter is almost concluded after which the suspects will be arraigned in court.
