After nearly two months of denial, the Department of State Services (DSS) has finally allowed Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), to meet with his legal team. The breakthrough came on November 11, 2024, following the intervention of Hon. Obi Aguocha, a key legal figure in Kanu’s case. Kanu’s lawyers had been blocked from meeting him since September 27, 2024, despite a court order permitting such access.
Barrister Aloy Ejimakor, Kanu’s lead counsel, confirmed the visit on social media, crediting the intervention of legal experts and the DSS’s Director-General, Mr. Adeola Oluwatosin Ajayi. Kanu’s legal team was also joined by U.S.-based attorney Ndidi Awurum during the meeting. Ejimakor had previously condemned the DSS for defying court orders, warning that legal actions would continue to ensure compliance.
