EFCC Asks Court to Reject Sanwo-Olu’s Suit as Speculative

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has urged the Federal High Court in Abuja to dismiss Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s fundamental rights enforcement suit, describing it as speculative.

Sanwo-Olu filed the suit over alleged threats of arrest, detention, and prosecution by the EFCC after his tenure ends in 2027. He sought a court declaration that his rights to private life and protection from harassment were being violated by the EFCC’s actions, which he claims are politically motivated.

In response, the EFCC argued that the governor’s claims were unfounded, asserting that it had not taken any steps to infringe on his rights.
