#EndBadGovernance: Concerned Members of KCSF Condemns Detention, Ill-Treatment of Under-aged Protesters
The Concerned Members of Kano Civil Society Forum (CMKCSF) have strongly kicked against continuous detention of minors who were arrested during the #EndBadGovernance protest that occurred in August.
This is coming amidst the bad treatments of the minors who appeared to be suffering from illness and malnutrition after being arraigned in court yesterday in Abuja.
The Chairman of the group, Abdullahi Y. Sule YEDA condemned the act via a press statement made available to newsmen in Kano this morning.
According to Abdullahi YEDA, the conditions in which these children appeared are a stark violation of their fundamental human rights and a grave indictment of the current state of justice and human dignity in Nigeria.
“The children, who were exercising their constitutional right to peaceful protest against the deteriorating socio-economic conditions in the country, were instead subjected to inhumane treatment and deprivation of their basic rights.

“Their emaciated appearance, signs of illness, and instances of fainting within the courtroom are a testament to the deplorable conditions they have endured in detention,” said Comrade Sule.
Therefore, he called on the relevant authorities, including the Nigerian judiciary, the Nigerian Correctional Service, and the Nigerian Police Force, to ensure immediate medical attention of the detained minors, expedite their bail process, and conduct a thorough investigation into their bad treatment while in detention.
“In addition to the domestic authorities, CMKCSF urges the international community, including the International Criminal Court (ICC), human rights organizations, and diplomatic missions, to closely monitor the situation and take appropriate action to ensure the protection of these young protesters.
“The treatment of these children is a stain on the conscience of Nigeria and a stark reminder of the urgent need for reforms to ensure justice, human rights, and the rule of law in the country.
“CMKCSF will continue to advocate for the rights of all Nigerians, particularly the most vulnerable, and will not rest until justice is served.” He added.
