Oyo Govt to Conduct Integrity Test After Building Collapse Kills 10

The Oyo State Government has announced plans to conduct integrity tests on all buildings in the Ojugbede Jegede area of Ogbere, Ibadan, after a building collapse on Thursday claimed 10 lives.

The collapsed storey building, owned by 80-year-old Babare Lamidi, who lost five of his grandchildren in the incident, has prompted the state to take preventive measures. Seven others were rescued from the site.

The state’s Commissioner for Lands and Urban Development, Williams Akin-Funmilayo, confirmed that tests would be carried out to avoid future occurrences. Meanwhile, the police and fire services are continuing investigations and rescue efforts.
