House Committee Clarifies Misunderstanding on FCT Officials’ Summoning
The House of Representatives Committee on National Security and Intelligence has confirmed that the Minister of the FCT, Nyesom Wike, and the Director General of the Department of State Services (DSS), Adeola Oluwatosin Ajayi, have not been summoned regarding the rise in crime in the capital city.
Chairman of the committee, Ahmed Satomi, addressed the issue on Wednesday following reports that the House had summoned various officials after adopting a motion by Hon. Dabo Haruna about the alarming activities of criminals known as “One chance” in the FCT.

Satomi clarified that while the motion was indeed passed and referred to the relevant committees for investigation, it did not include a summons for the FCT minister or the DSS DG. He emphasized, “I want to correct the mistakes in the reports regarding the motion concerning the killing of Hon. Haruna’s legislative aide, Miss Na’imi Sulaiman, and the need to address the ‘One chance’ operations.”
He further noted that the joint committee has yet to begin its investigation but assured Nigerians that they will thoroughly examine the situation and work with security agencies to apprehend those responsible.
