DSS Frees Two #EndBadGovernance Protesters in Kaduna, 125 Still in Custody Nationwide”
The Department of State Services (DSS) has released two #EndBadGovernance protesters who had been held in detention in Kaduna. This comes as 125 protesters remain in custody across various states in Nigeria, with 38 currently remanded in Abuja. Deji Adeyanju, the lawyer representing the protesters, expressed concern over the lack of transparency in the legal proceedings, citing that his team had yet to receive any formal documents or charges despite claims by the authorities.

Adeyanju highlighted inconsistencies in how protest-related cases are being handled, noting that while most of the 873 arrested in Kano have been freed, the situation is different in other regions. The Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) played a significant role in securing the release of protesters in Kano, and similar efforts have led to recent releases in Sokoto.
The nationwide protests, triggered by increasing economic hardship and widespread hunger, have seen thousands of Nigerians take to the streets. Some of these protests turned violent, resulting in arrests, injuries, and casualties. Despite the releases in Kano, Sokoto, and Kaduna, many protesters remain behind bars, awaiting their fate. Adeyanju and his team continue to work on securing their release and ensuring due process is followed.
