ICPC Chairman: Corruption Fuels Crime, Threatens National Security
The Chairman of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), Dr. Musa Adamu Aliyu, SAN, has declared that corruption is the root cause of all criminal activities, urging Nigerians to unite in the fight against it.
Speaking in Abuja on Friday, Dr. Aliyu emphasized that corruption poses a severe threat to national security by destabilizing a nation’s stability, prosperity, and sovereignty.
Represented by the ICPC Deputy Director, Dr. Oluwasina Babasola, Dr. Aliyu highlighted that under his leadership, the ICPC had made significant strides in a short time, earning respect and securing crucial partnerships across the country.
Addressing an audience of military and paramilitary officers, the ICPC chairman reiterated the Commission’s commitment to combating corruption, expressing gratitude for the recognition and promising even greater efforts moving forward.

In addition, DAILY POST reports that Dr. Aliyu had previously vowed to enforce the Supreme Court’s ruling on Local Government Autonomy, warning anyone considering undermining the law to reconsider. He also revealed that the Commission had recovered approximately N4 billion stolen by public officeholders within 24 hours.
Dr. Aliyu questioned why some government officials would hoard such vast sums of public funds, stating that the ICPC would leverage technological tools, particularly Artificial Intelligence, to uncover and combat corrupt practices more efficiently.
