Gen Aligbe Stresses Importance of Military Practical Promotion Examination

The Commander of the Training and Doctrine Command, Nigerian Army (TRADOC NA), Major General Kevin Aligbe, underscored the significance of the 2024 Captain to Major Practical Promotion Examination (CMPPE) during an address to candidates at the Dome International Culture and Events Centre. He emphasized that the examination serves as a crucial milestone in their career progression within the Nigerian Army.

As the Examination President, Major General Aligbe urged candidates to approach the CMPPE with seriousness and determination, highlighting that successful completion of the examination is essential for advancing in their military careers. The 2024 CMPPE, taking place at the Headquarters of the 32 Artillery Brigade in Owena Military Cantonment, Akure, represents a vital opportunity for candidates to solidify their prospects within the army.

“This examination is not only a prerequisite for attending the Junior Staff Course at the Armed Forces Command and Staff College in Jaji or other international staff colleges, but it also assesses your current level of proficiency and capability to handle future responsibilities within the Nigerian Army,” Maj Gen Aligbe stated in his address.

He articulated that the examination aligns with the Chief of Army Staff, Lt General Taoreed Abiodun Lagbaja’s command philosophy, which seeks to transform the Nigerian Army into a well-trained, equipped, and motivated force. He encouraged candidates to maintain confidence and a resolute determination to succeed, asserting that thorough preparation eliminates any justification for pessimism or fear of failure.

Joining in the encouragement, the General Officer Commanding 2 Division NA, Major General Obinna Onubogu, welcomed the participants, urging them to exert their best efforts while adhering to the highest standards of discipline. He reiterated the examination’s importance, noting that it serves as a pathway to elevate candidates to the army’s middle cadre.

Maj Gen Onubogu expressed gratitude to the Chief of Army Staff for entrusting the responsibility of hosting the examination to the 2 Division NA and assured the Examination President of the unwavering support of the officers and soldiers involved in the event.

In a moment of remembrance, the General Officer Commanding led a minute of silence for two TRADOC NA soldiers who tragically lost their lives en route to Akure for the examination.

The event was attended by several high-ranking military officials, including the Deputy Chief of Training, Major General Olusegun Abai, Chief of Training TRADOC NA, Major General Peter Okoye, and numerous other dignitaries from various arms of the Nigerian Army.

Following the address, participants gathered for a group photograph to commemorate the significant occasion.

The 2024 CMPPE is expected to play a pivotal role in shaping the careers of candidates within the Nigerian Army.
