Lawyers Criticize IGP, DSS for Shielding Yahaya Bello from EFCC Arrest

 

Legal experts have criticized the Inspector General of Police (IGP) and the Directorate of State Services (DSS) for allegedly obstructing the EFCC from arresting former Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello, over charges of public fund diversion. Despite efforts by the EFCC, police and DSS personnel attached to Bello have reportedly prevented his arrest, sparking concerns over poor coordination among law enforcement agencies.

 

Legal practitioner Adeyemi Sulaimon noted that if the IGP and DSS were fully cooperating, Bello would have been in court by now. He stressed that no one, including Bello, is above the law and urged law enforcement to work together to uphold justice.

 

Human rights activist Gedion Okebu echoed this sentiment, stating that evading arrest is a crime in itself and that the law must be enforced without political interference.
