Bobrisky Absent as VeryDarkMan, EFCC Appear Before House of Reps Over Corruption Probe

Social media influencer Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan, appeared before the House of Representatives Joint Committee investigating serious corruption allegations involving the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and the Nigerian Correctional Services (NCoS). The investigation follows claims made by Bobrisky, a controversial social media personality, about bribing EFCC officials with N15 million to drop money laundering charges against him.

While Bobrisky was also summoned to appear before the committee, he was notably absent. This led to frustration from VeryDarkMan, who declined to make any statement. “I don’t see why I will be here and he will not, so I won’t say anything but my lawyer will,” VeryDarkMan stated, referring to the absence of Bobrisky as a reason for withholding his testimony.

In addition to VeryDarkMan, Bobrisky’s legal representative, Averosoghene Omuvwie, as well as officials from both the EFCC and the Nigerian Correctional Services, were present at the session.

The investigation comes on the heels of a leaked audio recording in which Bobrisky allegedly described paying bribes to avoid imprisonment and secure a more comfortable lodging during his detention, raising serious concerns about the integrity of the EFCC and NCoS.
