N80.2bn Scandal: EFCC Gives Yahaya Bello Final Ultimatum to Defend Himself

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has issued a final ultimatum to former Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello, to defend himself against allegations of laundering N80.2 billion.

Bello has been directed to appear in court on Wednesday, September 25, 2024, to face a 19-count charge of money laundering. According to EFCC sources, his previous attempt to surrender was rejected over concerns that his actions were intended to disrupt the commission’s procedures.

The EFCC insists that any further delay from Bello will only worsen his case, urging him to take the last opportunity to defend himself in court.
