Kogi Women Call on President Tinubu to Investigate EFCC’s Harassment of Governor Ododo

Women under the aegis of the Kogi Women Group on Good Governance have called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to establish an independent investigation into the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission’s (EFCC) recent actions against Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Ododo.

At a press conference, the women expressed their disappointment over the EFCC’s raid on the Kogi Governor’s Lodge in Abuja on September 18, 2024. The EFCC’s attempt to arrest former Governor Yahaya Bello, who was voluntarily brought in by Governor Ododo, was heavily criticized by the group.

The convener, Hon. Tukura Grace, emphasized that the EFCC’s actions threatened the safety of the governor and civilians. She called the raid an “attack on the constitution” and urged President Tinubu to conduct a fair and unbiased investigation into the matter.

Grace also praised Governor Ododo for handling the situation with restraint, preventing further escalation, and protecting the lives of innocent citizens. The group emphasized that the incident was an affront to both Kogi State and Nigeria’s democracy.
