Governor Ododo Allegedly Shields Yahaya Bello from EFCC Arrest Again
Former Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello reportedly evaded arrest on Wednesday with the help of his successor, Governor Usman Ododo. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) had attempted to apprehend Bello, wanted for an alleged N80.2bn fraud, by laying siege to the Kogi State Government Lodge in Abuja.

Ododo, leveraging his governorship immunity, allegedly facilitated Bello’s escape, similar to an incident in April when he reportedly helped Bello avoid another EFCC operation. Despite the EFCC’s efforts, Bello was not detained.
EFCC spokesman Dele Oyewale denied claims that Bello was in custody following a visit to the EFCC headquarters by both Bello and Ododo. EFCC officials expressed frustration, citing Ododo’s immunity as a barrier to the arrest.
