ICPC to Enforce Supreme Court Judgment on LG Autonomy
Dr. Musa Aliyu, Chairman of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), has vowed to ensure strict enforcement of the Supreme Court’s ruling on Local Government Autonomy. Speaking at a National Anti-Corruption Coalition (NACC) forum in Abuja, Aliyu emphasized that the ICPC would enforce compliance with the July 11 Supreme Court judgment, which grants financial autonomy to local governments across Nigeria.

Aliyu warned those opposing the ruling to reconsider, stating, “I will protect the integrity of the court and lead the fight. Local governments must be governed by democratically elected officials from the grassroots.”
He reiterated the ICPC’s commitment to preventing the diversion of public funds and ensuring responsible governance at the local level. Secretary to the Commission, Clifford Oparaodu, also highlighted that combating corruption requires collective efforts.
