Flood: CDS, Service Chiefs visit Maiduguri

Gen. Christopher Musa, Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) and Service Chiefs have visited Maiduguri to assess operations and offer condolences over the recent flood disaster.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the Alau Dam flood incident which occurred on September 10, submerged many wards in Maiduguri leading to lost of many lives and property worth billions of Naira.

As the water continue to recede, many residents of the city were full of praises for the leading and effective role played by the military in search and rescue mission.

The efforts of the military had let to the rescue of thousands of victims trapped by the flood.

The CDS attended a briefing on “Operation Desert Sanity 11” at the headquarters of Theater Command, Maiduguri, where he addressed the troops of the Nigerian Army.

He lauded the troops for their performance at the war front as well as rescue mission during the flood.

The CDS urged the officers and men to sustain the tempo for the good of the nation.

“The President and Commander in Chief is happy with your performance so also other Nigerians,” he told the troops.

The CDS team also paid sympathy visits to Shehu of Borno, Alhaji Abubakar Umar-Garbai El-Kanemi and Gov. Babagana Zulum.

The duo praised the gigantic efforts of the military for its intervention, which according to them saved many lives.
