Labour Party Calls for Probe Into Alleged Mismanagement of Campaign Funds by Peter Obi, Aisha Yesufu, and Others”
The Julius Abure-led Labour Party (LP) has called on the National Security Adviser (NSA) and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to investigate Peter Obi, Aisha Yesufu, Pastor Itua Ighodalo, and other key figures over allegations of embezzlement and misappropriation of the party’s campaign funds.

During a press conference in Abeokuta, the National Publicity Secretary of LP, Abayomi Arabambi, accused the mentioned individuals of diverting over N12 billion and $15 million in donations intended for the party’s presidential campaign. He criticized Aisha Yesufu’s recent comments denying involvement, calling it an attempt to cover up financial misconduct.
Arabambi further alleged that these actions were orchestrated by Peter Obi, whom he described as a “political merchant,” accusing him of hiring these figures to defraud the party. The Labour Party also accused prominent Afenifere leaders, including Pa Ayo Adebanjo, Akin Osuntokun, and Sola Ebiseni, of retaining N600 million in private and Afenifere accounts.
The party urged the NSA and EFCC to conduct a thorough investigation into the bank accounts linked to these individuals to determine the extent of the alleged fraud, reiterating their commitment to transparency and accountability.
