Flood Destroys Bridge Linking 5 Kaduna Communities
A massive flood has destroyed a bridge on Saminaka-Marjire road on the outskirts of Saminaka town, cutting of Marjire and four other agrarian communities from Saminaka in the Lere Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
The council Chairman, Hon. Mathew Bulus Gambo, said the bridge collapse had crippled economic activities in the area.
He however thanked Governor Uba Sani for setting up a high-powered committee chaired by his Chief of Staff, Sani Kila, to visit the affected areas.
Gambo noted that this action demonstrated a commitment to addressing the people’s plight.
“The collapse of this bridge has severed the link between Saminaka and many communities. It has crippled economic activities in those areas. As you know, Lere Local Government is an agrarian LGA,” Gambo said.

The committee also visited other flood-affected locations within the local government, including Wawan Rafi Village, where another bridge collapsed, as well as Nasarawa and Ungwan Shuru areas of Saminaka township.
Governor Sani assured that his government would take urgent actions to address the issues faced by the communities and the entire Lere LGA.
Speaking through his Chief of Staff, Malam Liman Sani Kila, who led the Flood Impact Assessment Committee to Lere LGA, the governor emphasised his administration’s commitment to rural economic development.
He promised that in addition to reconstructing the damaged road and bridge, relief materials would be provided to the affected communities.
“We assure you that Governor Uba Sani is deeply committed to promoting the rural economy and addressing the citizens’ needs. Our committee will brief the governor on these developments, and urgent action will be taken,” he said.
