Governor Yusuf Remains Committed to Data-Driven Governance – Kano Statistician General

The Statistician General and Director General of Kano State Bureau of Statistics (KSBS), Dr. Aliyu Isa Aliyu, has lauded Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, for his unwavering commitment to enhancing data-driven governance.

Speaking during the inauguration of the Kano State Consultative Committee on Statistics  (KSCCS), Dr. Aliyu emphasized that the Governor’s reliance on accurate and timely data has significantly shaped policy decisions across multiple sectors in the state.

Dr. Aliyu noted that since the beginning of his administration, Governor Yusuf has placed much emphasis on data collection and analysis to guide key decisions in areas such as healthcare, education, agriculture and infrastructure among others.

According to him, the Governor’s approach to governance is rooted in facts and figures so as to ensure that every major initiative undertaken in Kano State is based on sound statistical evidence, which ensures that resources are allocated effectively and that policies meet the actual needs of the people.

Dr. Aliyu further highlighted the recent establishment and unveiling of the committee on statistics as prime examples of the Governor’s data-driven approach.

The Committee which was unveiled by the State Head of Civil Service, Alhaji  Abdullahi Musa, has the Statistician General as its Chairman.

Other members are; Dr Yusuf Yau Gambo, Dr Aminu Magashi Garba, Dr. YZ Ya’u, Dr Umar Alhassan and Mohammed Bello, the Chief Executive Officer, CEO, of the African Center for Innovative Research and Development AFRI-CIRD) among others.

Alhaji Musa charged the newly inaugurated members of the Committee to diligently discharge their mandates, emphasizing that their efforts would directly contribute to the state’s growth and progress.

He said: “You are entrusted with a pivotal responsibility. Through your work, we can ensure that the policies and programs of our state are grounded in robust, accurate data, which is essential for informed decision-making,”
