Okuama Leaders Sue Army, DSS for N200m Over Unlawful Detention
Two of the six arrested leaders from the Okuama community in Ughelli South, Delta State, have filed lawsuits against the Nigerian Army and the Department of State Security (DSS) for N200 million in damages, citing violations of their fundamental rights. James Oghorokor and Dennis Okugbaye, detained without trial, are seeking legal redress and compensation for their unlawful arrest and detention since August 19, 2024. The lawsuit, filed at the Federal High Court in Warri, calls for their immediate release and a declaration that their rights to personal liberty, privacy, and freedom of movement were infringed upon.
