The Bauchi State Police Command has confirmed that two people are missing after a passenger boat capsized in the Zindiwa River, located in Gamawa Local Government Area of Bauchi State.

Three passengers were rescued following the incident, which occurred last Saturday morning.

The Police Public Relations Officer, Mohammed Ahmed Wakil, provided details of the incident, noting that the boat was serving as an alternative means of transportation after floods washed away the main road connecting Gamawa with nearby villages.

Due to the destruction of the road, many residents in the area have had to rely on boats, particularly on market days or when travelling to and from their homes.

According to Wakil, the boat was piloted by Haruna Isah from Wabo village and had five passengers on board when it capsized in the middle of the river.

The passengers were identified as Danjuma Ibrahim (30), Shafiu Alhaji Awale (40), Salisu Alaramma (40), Yakubu Tela (57), and Jamilu Kabiru (22), all from Zindiwa village.

Wakil assured that efforts to locate the missing passengers are ongoing, and more updates will be provided as the situation develops.
