TInubu Appoints New Heads for NIA and DSS

 

President Bola Tinubu has approved the appointment of new Directors-General for the National Intelligence Agency (NIA) and the Department of State Services (DSS).

 

Ambassador Mohammed Mohammed has been named the new Director-General of the NIA, while Adeola Oluwatosin Ajayi has been appointed as the new Director-General of the DSS. The appointments were announced in a statement by the President’s spokesperson, Ajuri Ngelale.

 

According to the statement, Ambassador Mohammed, who graduated from Bayero University, Kano, in 1990, has had a distinguished career in foreign service since joining the NIA in 1995. His experience includes serving in North Korea, Pakistan, Sudan, and at the State House in Abuja. Before this appointment, he was the head of the Nigerian mission to Libya.

 

Mr. Adeola Ajayi, the new DSS Director-General, has risen through the ranks within the DSS to attain his current position. He has previously served as State Director in Bauchi, Enugu, Bayelsa, Rivers, and Kogi states.

 

The appointments come following the resignation of the previous heads of the NIA and DSS. President Tinubu expressed his expectation that the new security chiefs will work diligently to enhance the effectiveness of these vital intelligence agencies. He also emphasized the importance of their collaboration with sister agencies and alignment with the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA) in addressing the country’s security challenges.

 

The President also extended his gratitude to the outgoing Directors-General for their service to the nation and wished them success in their future endeavors.
