The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has arrested 2,726 suspects for various heinous criminal acts across the states of the Federation and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja, within one month.

Parading the suspects before newsmen in Abuja, the Force Public Relations Officer (FPRO), Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Olumuyiwa Adejobi, said that this decisive action underscores the Police Force’s relentless efforts to combat crime and bring perpetrators to justice.

He stated that the suspects, who have confessed to various offenses ranging from armed robbery to kidnapping, are currently undergoing intensive interrogation and will be charged in court accordingly.

According to him, one significant case involved Hauwa Yusuf, a 30-year-old from Dutsin-Ma LGA in Katsina State. She was intercepted while traveling from Lafia, Nasarawa State, to Katsina State in a Sienna bus along the Abuja-Kaduna Expressway. Upon interception, a search revealed she was carrying an AK-47 rifle without a breach number and four AK magazines concealed inside a white sack of garri.

He added that during interrogation, the suspect confessed she was delivering the weapons on behalf of a notorious bandit terrorizing Katsina State.

The FPRO said that the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Dr. Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, has reiterated the Police Force’s dedication to protecting the lives and property of all Nigerian citizens.

According to him, this parade serves as a testament to the ongoing efforts to maintain law and order and instill a sense of security within our communities.

He urged members of the public to continue cooperating with law enforcement agencies by providing timely information that could aid in the investigation and apprehension of criminal elements in society.
