Army Unveils Upgraded Training Schools in Maiduguri

The Nigerian Army has inaugurated a new Theatre Training School and upgraded an existing one in Maiduguri, Borno State, as part of efforts to enhance its combat effectiveness and tackle the Boko Haram insurgency in the North East region.

Theatre Commander, OPHK, Maj-Gen Waidi Shuaibu, disclosed this at the graduation ceremony of the newly commissioned school in Maimalari Cantonment, Maiduguri, on Saturday.

According to Maj-Gen Shuaibu, there is a need for troops to adapt quickly and undergo rapid training in the face of evolving security threats.

“Our troops need to be able to adapt quickly and train others to do the same. We cannot afford to be caught off guard by these terrorists,” he said.

He explained that the new facilities are designed to equip Nigerian troops with the necessary skills and knowledge to tackle Boko Haram, bandits, and other security threats.

The training will focus on human rights and the rules of engagement, to ensure that Nigerian troops are not only effective but also responsible.

Top military officials attended the commissioning ceremony, praising Maj-Gen Shuaibu’s leadership and vision in enhancing the army’s training capabilities.

This development is a significant step forward in the Nigerian Army’s quest to become a world-class fighting force.

Maj.-Gen Shuaibu revealed that the upgraded training facilities will provide a more conducive learning environment, with state-of-the-art equipment and experienced instructors.

The Nigerian Army has been battling Boko Haram insurgents for over a decade, and the new training facilities are a welcome boost to its efforts. Although the army has made significant gains in recent months, the insurgents remain a potent threat.

The new training facilities are part of a broader effort to enhance the army’s capabilities and tackle the root causes of the insurgency. The Nigerian government has pledged to do more to address the social and economic grievances that have driven many young people to join Boko Haram.

As the army continues to battle Boko Haram, the new training facilities will play a critical role in ensuring that its troops have the skills and knowledge they need to succeed. The fate of Nigeria hangs in the balance, and the army is determined to emerge victorious.
