DSS Denies Raid on NLC Headquarters Amidst Labour Union’s Allegations
The Department of State Services (DSS) has denied claims that it conducted a raid on the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) headquarters in Abuja. This denial follows an alarm raised by the NLC, alleging that its Labour House headquarters was raided by security personnel around 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
DSS Spokesperson Peter Afunanya responded to journalists’ inquiries, stating, “The Service (DSS) did not carry out any operation at the NLC office in Abuja.”
The NLC’s Head of Media and Public Relations, Comrade Benson Upah, had earlier claimed that a mix of personnel from the Nigeria Police Force, the DSS, and unidentified plain-clothes operatives invaded the NLC premises. According to Upah, the security forces broke into the building, ransacked the bookshop on the 2nd floor, and took away books and other publications, allegedly searching for materials related to the #EndBadGovernance protests.
