Seven Polish Nationals Arrested Amid Kano Protests
Seven Polish nationals have been arrested in connection with the violent nationwide protest against hunger and hardship in Kano State and are currently under investigation, according to the Department of State Services (DSS).
A representative of the DSS revealed this information during a meeting between the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Yusuf Tugar, and members of the diplomatic corps on Wednesday.
The DSS representative explained that the individuals were detained for displaying foreign flags in the North-West region. He emphasized that their arrest was not a targeted action against Polish nationals.
The meeting, attended by the Minister of Information Mohammed Idris, a representative of the National Security Adviser, the Inspector General of Police, and the Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Foreign Affairs, was convened in response to the nationwide protests that began on August 1, 2024.
Minister of Foreign Affairs Yusuf Tugar highlighted the Federal Government’s efforts to enhance socioeconomic development, including reducing debt servicing from 90% to 68% and implementing interventions to ensure food security, create jobs, and attract investments.
