KYPC Kicks Against Call for Relocation of ICT Hub from Kano State

The Kano Youth Promotion Council (KYPC) has kicked against call for relocation of ICT digital innovation park from Kano to Kebbi State. The group has equally condemned the act of disparaging Kano State by describing it as a violence spot.

The President of KYPC, Comrade Idris Ibrahim Unguwar Gini disclosed this information in a statement he signed and made available to newsmen.

He described the call for relocation of the ICT hub from Kano State by the Concerned Northern Forum (CNF) as politically motivated and aimed at discrediting and tarnishing the image of the State.

The President called on the group to desist from such motives and enjoined them to instead focus on how to develop the entire Northern region.

The statement reads in full below:

“The Kano Youth Promotion Council (KYPC) strongly condemns the recent press conference  held by the so-called Concerned Northern Forum, where they called for the relocation of the digital innovation park from Kano State. The statement made by Comrade Abdulssalam Kazeem, the president of CNF, disrespectfully referred to Kano State as a place plagued by violence, is unacceptable, ignoring the fact that Kebbi State has faced similar if not worse challenges in recent years, And serves to incite division within the northern region.

“The suggestion to relocate the ICT park based on political alignment rather than economic viability is misguided and motivated by ulterior motives. It is unacceptable for Kazeem to use vulgar language and make baseless accusations against the peace-loving people of Kano State.

“The attempt by the CNF to shift blame onto the Kano state governor for nationwide protests, while praising Kebbi state governor, is undemocratic and lacks understanding of effective Leadership and knowledge  of cosmopolitan state like Kano.

“KYPC urges the CNF to show respect towards Kano State and recognize its significant contributions to the northern region and the country as a whole.

“The Federal Government’s decision to locate the ICT park in Kano State was based on valid reasons, including economic viability, population growth, growth potential and revenue generation, which Kano excels in compared to Kebbi State.

“The divisive and hateful rhetoric displayed in the CNF’s statement has no place in our society.

” KYPC calls for unity and cooperation among all northern states, rather than promoting hostility and discord. It is time to set aside differences and work together for the common good of the region.

“The press conference by the CNF is filled with hatred and animosity, and Kano Youth Promotion Council (KYPC)calls on them to refrain from further insulting Kano State. It is time for unity and cooperation, not division and slander within the northern region.”
