DSS Arrests Suspects for Diverting 1,200 Bags of Rice in Katsina State

The Department of State Services (DSS) has arrested several suspects in connection with the diversion of 1,200 bags of rice meant for Katsina State. The agency also reported that the suspects diverted at least 48 additional bags of rice kits.

DSS spokesperson Dr. Peter Afunanya disclosed this information during a press briefing today. He revealed that the arrests were part of a broader crackdown on various criminal activities.

In July, the DSS made significant arrests targeting individuals involved in oil theft, kidnapping, burglary, cultism, terrorism, and insurgency. Among those apprehended were high-ranking terrorist leaders, logistic facilitators, gun runners, and individuals involved in the production of improvised explosive devices (IEDs).

In addition to the arrests, the DSS operatives seized a wide array of weapons. The confiscated items included semi-automatic double-barrel guns, cartridges, pump-action rifles, locally-made pistols, IED initiators, AK-47 rifles, magazines, and batteries.

The DSS continues to intensify its efforts to combat criminal activities and ensure public safety across Nigeria.
