EFCC Disputes Health Claims in Binance Exec’s Bail Request
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has challenged the claims made by the family and legal team of detained Binance executive, Tigran Gambaryan, regarding his deteriorating health. Gambaryan, who is facing money laundering charges in Nigeria, allegedly suffers from a herniated disc, with his family stating that he “can no longer walk.”

During a hearing at the Federal High Court in Abuja, EFCC’s lead counsel, Ekene Iheanacho, argued that Gambaryan’s health issues were exaggerated. Despite claims from Gambaryan’s lawyer, Mark Mordi, that his client’s health is in jeopardy, Iheanacho contended that the condition was longstanding and not as severe as portrayed.
The EFCC maintained that Gambaryan had been receiving adequate medical care while in custody, with regular visits to medical facilities. Gambaryan, however, asserted that inadequate treatment in prison has worsened his condition, leading to permanent nerve damage.
Justice Emeka Nwite has adjourned the case until September 4.
