NYSC Denies Allegations in Hit-and-Run Death of Polytechnic StudentNYSC logo

The Coordinator of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) in Ogun State, Mrs. Olayinka Nasamu, refuted claims on Wednesday that an NYSC official was involved in the hit-and-run accident that killed Pelumi David Idowu, a student of Gateway ICT Polytechnic, Saapade, and his motorcyclist.

Following the incident, the National Association of Nigerian Students and the National Association of Ogun State Students protested, alleging cover-up by NYSC. Nasamu dismissed these allegations as baseless, emphasizing that thorough investigations by the DSS and police cleared the NYSC of any wrongdoing.

Nasamu extended condolences to the families of the victims and reiterated NYSC’s commitment to justice. She highlighted that the polytechnic’s management and student union had apologized for the wrongful accusations and issued statements distancing themselves from the protest.

She clarified that the accused NYSC worker, Ojo Aina, was only called to the scene after the accident and was mistakenly identified as the culprit.
