In a continued effort to rid the country of illegal migrants suspected of involvement in criminal activities, the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) Katsina State Command has arrested two foreign nationals without valid documents.
Comptroller of Immigration Service, Mohammed Adamu Mahmoud announced the operation leading to the arrest of Adamu Hadjara, a 44-year-old male from Niger Republic. Hadjara was found loitering, begging for money, and intimidating married women in Katsina city.
Similarly, Mamman Muhammadu, a 25-year-old male from Niger Republic, was arrested for his involvement in the illicit smuggling of premium motor spirit (PMS) into Niger Republic.
Comptroller Mahmoud stated that the arrested individuals will be repatriated to their home countries as they pose a security risk and are considered irregular migrants.
“Most of the suspects arrested do not have valid travel or means and pose a threat to national security,” Mahmoud said.

The Comptroller urged the people of Katsina State to provide the command with useful information to aid in ensuring public safety. He emphasized that the Comptroller General of Immigration Service, Kemi Nanna Nandap, has directed immigration officers to be vigilant in their statutory responsibilities on migration management and border security.
In a separate development, Comptroller Mahmoud commended Nandap and the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji Ojo, for their unwavering support to the command and the service at large.
Mahmoud made the commendation during a comprehensive tutorial class he organized for personnel of the service in preparation for the next promotional examination. The initiative aimed to refresh the officers’ knowledge of rules, regulations, and past question papers, as well as enhance their overall preparedness for the exam.
The resource persons updated participants on immigration general duties, public service rules, financial regulations, and current affairs to equip the officers with comprehensive knowledge and skills for the examination.
