Kano Lawmaker Bags ‘Excellence Award’ for Youth Empowerment
The member representing Madobi Constituency at the Kano State House of Assembly, Hon. Suleiman Mukhtar Ishaq has bagged an ‘Award of Excellence’ for launching several empowerment initiatives to tackle youth unemployment.
The National Association of Life Science Students, (NALISS), Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) Chapter, honoured the lawmaker during its annual summit in Kaduna.
The summit with the theme; “Transforming Science Skills for a Better Nigeria” was aimed at highlighting the significance of entrepreneurship on Nigerian youth including students, especially during this current economic hardship.
The President of NALISS, ABU Chapter, Comrade Sadiq Khamis Lamido, emphasized that Mr. Ishaq was honoured due to his exemplary commitment in the Kano House of Assembly toward promoting education agendas aimed at entrenching teaching and learning processes in the State.

He also added that the member has continued to maintain a good track record of achievements in reducing the level of poverty and unemployment rate among his constituents members through a series of empowerment schemes both in the form of financial grants and distribution of start-up materials to boost business enterprises in Madobi local council.
“Because of his dedication towards improving the socio-economic activities of his constituents through empowerment initiatives and entrenching education, we the students deemed it imperative to accord him this respect as a sign of appreciation and to serve as a motivating factor to do more in the future.” The President added.
Honourable Ishaq, who is also the Chairman of the occasion, thanked the organizers of the event for finding him worthy of such an invaluable prestigious award. He urged them to engage in skills acquisition to prepare for life in this ever-challenging environment where job opportunities are meager.
“This award will serve as a catalyst for me to continue with empowerment initiatives which is necessary for boosting socio-economic activities in the society.” Mr. Ishaq added.
