EFCC Arrests 31 Suspected Internet Fraudsters in Abuja and Benin City

 

Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) have arrested a total of 31 suspected internet fraudsters in two coordinated operations in Abuja and Benin City.

 

On Thursday, June 27, 2024, four suspected internet fraudsters were apprehended in a pre-dawn operation in the Karu axis of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja. Acting on credible intelligence, the EFCC seized a black Lexus AS 350 car, an ash-colored Toyota Camry car, mobile phones, and laptops from the suspects.

 

In a separate operation, the Benin Zonal Directorate of the EFCC arrested 27 suspected internet fraudsters on Wednesday, June 26, 2024, at various locations within Benin City. These arrests were based on actionable intelligence regarding their involvement in computer-related fraud. Items recovered included N590,000.00 in cash, nine exotic cars, laptops, and phones.

 

All 31 suspects will be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations.
