Troops Eliminate 2,245 Terrorists, Liberate 1,933 Hostages in Three-Months
The military high command has announced significant achievements in its ongoing operations against terrorism and criminal activities during the second quarter of this year.
Over the past three months, troops have successfully neutralized 2,245 terrorists, arrested 3,682 suspected terrorists and other criminal elements, and rescued 1,933 kidnapped hostages.
This milestone was disclosed today by Major General Edward Buba, Director of Defence Media Operations, during a bi-weekly press briefing at the Defence Headquarters in Abuja.
“In addition to these accomplishments, troops also recovered a substantial cache of weapons and ammunition. The haul included 2,783 weapons and 64,547 rounds of ammunition.

“Specifically, this comprised 1,169 AK-47 rifles, 36,273 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, 14,764 rounds of 7.62mm NATO ammunition, 713 assorted arms, and 9,850 assorted rounds of ammunition.
“Efforts to combat oil theft have also yielded impressive results, with troops thwarting the theft of crude oil and refined products valued at over N10 billion (N10,533,131,470.00).
“Recovered items included 9,225,149 liters of stolen crude oil, 2,874,916 liters of illegally refined AGO, 29,900 liters of DPK, and 31,380 liters of PMS, among other items,” he added.
Maj. Gen. Buba emphasized the ongoing assessment and adjustment of troop operations to minimize civilian casualties and ensure compliance with international laws governing armed conflict.
“The military remains steadfast in its commitment to eradicating terrorism and criminal activities while safeguarding the lives and properties of citizens,” he stated.
