Poetic Wednesdays Initiative to Hold ‘3-Day Poetry Festival’ in Kano
The Poetic Wednesday Initiative (PWI) has concluded plans to hold an international festival for its members in Kano State. The event will be the first of its kind to take place in the ancient city of Kano.
Tagged, ‘Kano International Poetry Festival’, the three-day event is expected to be held between Thursday, July 11th to Saturday, July 13th, 2024.
Chairman of the Local Organizing Committee, Salim Yunusa disclosed this in a statement forwarded to Emergency Digest.
The event will feature panel discussions, workshops, exhibitions and book chats that bring forth emerging and pressing issues through the use of arts among the attendants.

Additionally, the festival will serve as an avenue for hosting young authors, poets, and literary creators to showcase their works and share their experiences with the participants.
Meanwhile, prominent poets within Nigeria and outside the country are among the special guests who will attend this Kano maiden festival.
Emergency Digest reports that the Poetic Wednesday Initiative is among the largest youth-led organizations in Northern Nigeria amassed over 15,000 followers and engaged hundreds of participants for over seven years.
The association is an apolitical organization, dedicated to fostering literary development and promoting arts and literature among young people.
It provides a platform for learning, sharing, and networking, aiming to ensure inclusive education,
foster innovation, and promote partnerships for development among its team members.
Similarly, PWI has over the years, conducted workshops both online and offline that have trained over 300 secondary school students and young people on literary works.
